At the heart of every drop of paint, every brush of stain, every bit of your brightly colored phone case is a pigment. Pigments are the compounds added to materials to give them color. Some of the earliest chemistry was to make and isolate pigments for paints. Fast forward to today's technology, color manufacturers are constantly examining and updating two types of pigments: organic and inorganic. Through these advancements in colorant technology, we are able to fully understand sheen, texture, reflectance curves and heat management.
